Privacy policy

Barter (barterpeers.xyz) is non-custodial software for peer-to-peer token swaps on Base. We do not take custody of your assets or wallet keys.

What we collect

• Wallet addresses you connect — used in the browser to read balances, show your trades, and build transactions you sign locally.
• On-chain data — offers, escrows, and token metadata are public on Base. We read this from RPC providers and, when configured, an indexer.
• Server logs — our hosting provider and API routes may log request metadata (IP, user agent, timestamps) for reliability and abuse prevention.
• Optional AI assistants — if enabled, chat context may include your connected address and open trades to answer questions. Do not send secrets or seed phrases.
• Optional Telegram contacts — if a maker links a Telegram username to an offer, we store that username with the offer ID and a wallet signature in our contact store. Messages happen on Telegram, not inside Barter.
• Off-chain coordination data — share links, counter proposals, and optional Telegram contacts are stored in our encrypted app database with a maker-chosen retention period (1–365 days). When retention expires, that coordination data is removed. On-chain offers and escrows remain public on Base regardless.
• After a swap completes — tokens sit in your wallet; Barter does not custody them or maintain an account for you. You do not need the app for a finished trade. See Security & verification for when risk is highest (during approve and deposit).

What we do not collect

• Private keys, seed phrases, or passwords
• Custodial account balances — we never hold your tokens
• KYC identity documents

Third parties

The app uses WalletConnect, wallet extensions, Base RPC endpoints, Basescan links, and optional Telegram handoff links when makers choose to share a username. Their privacy policies apply when you use those services. We do not sell personal data.

Cookies & local storage

The site may store wallet connection preferences and UI state in your browser. No advertising trackers are intentionally deployed by Barter.

Your choices

Disconnect your wallet at any time. On-chain actions you already signed remain on Base as public records. To request deletion of off-chain logs tied to an API request, contact support@barterpeers.xyz.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
